Gear purchase vs Rental

AES recommends every diver work towards the purchase of a complete set scuba gear based on each level of training.  Divers reduce the risk involved in diving when dive gear is familiar to the diver.  With each dive and new experience a diver will depend on the set up and care of the gear they choose, allowing for more confident dive practices.  When divers own their own gear they become more aware of the gear performance and location each item when needed.   During the dive or an emergency, the diver is quicker to respond because of the gear awareness is comfortable and secure.

In the event a diver is unable to purchase all the gear at one time, diving gear familiar is most important.  Dive shops offer gear but if that gear is a different configuration than trained, risks are increased.  Renting from a local store that maintains gear regularly is the next best option.  Repeat rental of the same gear will allow divers to be comfortable and aware of the gear if needed during a dive trip.  Additionally, most shops will offer a discount for multiple days of rental or annual rentals.

AES Dives rental gear is equal to the instructors teaching and supporting the dive trips.  Top of the line gear rental from the mask to the regulators and more.
